Bindi Fashion Trend

The bindi is one of the most important and widely used hand-made South Indian garments. There are many different forms and variations of this South Indian fashion trend from the traditional kind, which is a roundish bluish-green coloured paste, to the more modern and fashionable batik, which is made using special hand-made decorative fabrics. This article aims to explore the mind and its various forms as a fashion trend and as an art form. The bindi used in this article has been created by a talented artist based in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu state.

Historically, the bindi was traditionally made by the tribal people in India and was designed to decorate the entrance of the homes of holy persons or family elders. The art of making the bindi gradually spread throughout the region and gradually became a part of the Indian culture and custom. Today many people in India, including women from urban regions of India, follow the band as a part of their daily fashion and often choose it as part of the cloth of choice for weddings, marriages or festivals. In the recent past, the band has become popular as a designer wear for corporate outfits as well.

The bindi is a round, oval, square or sometimes irregular shaped hand-made decorative cloth made by the indigent rural people in India mostly in the state of Tamil Nadu in South India. The bindi is basically a dried out piece of rice left in the rice cooker to dry and boil. The steam and the boiling of the rice combined with the fragrance of jasmine oil gives the traditional South Indian looks to the mind and makes it a hot and favourite fashion trend amongst many women all over India. Most of the band pieces used in modern Indian Fashion industry are made from polyester and manmade fibre or paper materials. But the traditional bindi is still very much in demand as it gives the women a good and charming look on their wedding or marriage day and is a part of the Indian tradition.
